Health Tip:
. Heat Tips
Dress for the heat.
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing. Light colors will reflect away some of the sun's energy. It is also a good idea to wear hats or to use an umbrella.
Drink water. Carry water or juice with you and drink continuously even if you do not feel thirsty. Avoid alcohol and caffeine, which dehydrate the body.
Eat small meals and eat more often. Avoid foods that are high in protein which increase metabolic heat.
Avoid using salt tablets unless directed to do so by a physician.
Slow down. Avoid strenuous activity. If you must do strenuous activity, do it during the coolest part of the day, which is usually in the morning between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Stay indoors when possible.
Take regular breaks when engaged in physical activity on warm days. Take time out to find a cool place. If you recognize that you, or someone else, is showing the signals of a heat-related illness, stop activity and find a cool place. Remember, have fun, but stay cool!

Events that took place June 21st & 22nd :
Bob & Debbie Burke went to the Smokeout Rally in Mocksville, NC over the weekend. If you are a biker who is interested in Old School bikes this is the event for you. There was all types of bikes from 1930's on up. There was a Roller Derby with the NC girls taking on the SC girls. Anybody who wanted to drag their bike to prove it was the fastest was able to do so. This was a race for fun complete with a cute girl with a scarf to wave them off. The best bike racing, a Yamaha toting a beer cooler kicking everyones ass until no one wanted to race him.. Keino from Indian Larry's Legacy was there. A great time was had by all with bikers from all over the United States.
The Wayne County Ghost Riders Rifle Shoot party was also going on. Gary & Sue Woodring and Linda & Jesse Watson attended this event. A good time was had and from what I hear they make a KICKIN lemonade with refills.
After a few hours they left for the Southern Sins Shits & Giggles Party where they met up with other CBA members, Stewart & Judy Vester, Ronnie & Rhonda Davis, Mark Brewer, Peter Rabbitt, Johnnie King, Wendy Bray, Tim & Carol Meetze, Stevie & Lorrie. They heard a lot of stories and even got to hear the cannon shot off. A great time was had by all who attended.
The Hogs Pen had their Grand Opening under new management. Big Mike is the new owner. A good turn out for this opening and hoping that everyone gets a chance to stop in and wish Big Mike well on his new adventure.
WINNERS AND LOSERS:
Had Leanore Jimenez of Goldsboro been present at the meeting she would have won the attendance prize of $32.00. This money will now roll over to the August meeting.
Winner of the Down Rider Fund Raffle was Tom McLaughlin of Walstonburg
BIRTHDAY/ANNIVERSARY REGONITIONS
:
Ronnie Davis 7-11
Robby Holland 7-17
Johnnie King 7-25
Motorcycle Safety Tip:
Follow these rules:
Treat other motorists with courtesy
and respect.
Avoid tailgating.
Avoid riding between lanes of slow
moving or stopped traffic.
Know and obey traffic laws, including
ordinances in your community.
Avoid excessive noise by leaving
the stock muffler in place or
using a muffler of equivalent noise reduction.
Use signals when appropriate
.
Be Courteous:
The practices of some riders
are offensive to other motorists
(e.g., weaving in and out
of stalled traffic, riding on
shoulders). Being inconsiderate
of other motorists creates a
negative image for all riders,
and can cause crashes.
THINGS TO PONDER:
Why are there locks on the door of stores that are open 24/7 365 days a year?
If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn?
If a turtle loses its shell is it naked or homeless?
If a mime is arrested, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent?
if something was miss-spelled in a dictionary how would we know?
why do men have nipples?
