Let me start the newsletter out with a recap of our TRB Gun Raffle for 2009

Tar River Basin held their annual Gun Raffle / Poker Run on May 30th at Wendy Trails in Stantonsburg. We had exceptional weather for the event. Approx. 70 bikes showed for the poker run and were back at 4:30pm to enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers and all the picnic fixings.

Steel Standing played some great music while Tattoo Tammy from the Grindhouse did some tattoos inside.

Our Peoples Choice bike show  winners were:

1st Place:  Bob Burke

2nd Place: Danny Holland

3rd Place:  Rusty Lane

Thanks to Stewart Vester for making our unique trophies for the winners.

The guns were raffled off around 7:00pm and no winner was present. The winners were:

1. Lee Perchino

2. Travis Cobb

3. Adam Bridges

4. Robert Astin

5. Bart Gabriel

We had 9 contestants in the frozen t-shirt and boxer short contest and the winners were 1st place Big Mike and 2nd place Patsy Bullock of the Hogs Pen. It was fun to watch everyone struggle to get their garment unthawed and put on.

Thanks to all TRB members who got donations, cooked  and helped in anyway making this event a success. A special thanks to Guardian Brotherhood, Wendy Trails, Jersey Jantzen, Tom & Sandy McLaughlin, Kenny Barnhill, Gary Woodring, Stewart Vester and Patsy Bullock.

Now, lets move on to our news for June:

Here it is the end of June already and so much going on everywhere. Let me highlight some events that we have had in June.

Wendy Trails had a LUAU on June 6th.  We had a good turnout of TRB members show up. Who knew Bob was so limber, Kristine could make a hula hoop go up and down and back up or that Grasshopper would dress in nothing more than a grass skirt and a coconut bra but then again if you saw him at the Toga party last year you know anything is possible with him. Wendy had great music by Boogie Chillins, tasty kabobs cooked by Kenny and great company for a terrific party.

The Jacksonville Memorial Ride was June 13th. TRB members, Jersy Jantzen, Jess & Linda Watson and Gary Woodring participated in this ride. Bob and I went to the CBA Bike Show put on by Carteret/Craven Chapter in Havelock. It was held at Jeans Place and they had approx. 30 bikes entered in the bike show. It turned out to be a nice day overall. The crowd that went to Jacksonville met us in Havelock around 3:30pm and we headed home. And as usual we went right into a huge rainstorm. Can't think of a time that we have gone that way and not run into rain at some point of the trip.

There was a Benefit Poker Run for Big Mike and Patsy this weekend June 20th. As most of you know by now, they lost their home to a fire on June 7th. The fundraiser was put on by friends and family. Approx. 70 bikes participated in the poker run and the band was Steel Standing in the afternoon and 5 Speed in the evening. A great turn out for this fundraiser.

On June 27th there will be a fundraiser for Chris Ellis of Handle Barz in Lucama who passed away on May 24th.

If you participate on any poker runs or events, please feel free to email an article to put in the newsletter. Its nice to see where everyone spent their weekend and who was there.

I have made a prayer page dedicated to bikers who have been in motorcycle accidents recently. If you would like me to add someone to this page please send me an email with their info. They do not have to be a CBA member to be put on the page its just a kind gesture to show we care and keep us aware to be more careful when we are on our bikes.

I am also going to put together a Military page. We have a lot of CBA members and friends of members that are on active duty and I thought it would be nice if  we could send letters and care packages from home. So if you know someone who you would like to add to this page send me an email and I will let you know what I would like for information about them.

The winner of the 50/50 drawing was Linda Watson of $20.00

Had Don Barnes of Lucama been present he would have won the attendance prize of $17.00 This will now roll over to the next meeting on July 16th.
