News Letter
Monday, 29 March 2010

We started the meeting by letting members know about Tom Mclaughlin. Tom has been feeling bad in the past weeks and finally went into get checked after a long ride to Virginia to see his mom. Tom ended up having a pace maker and defibrillator put in. Tom came home from the hospital on 3-20-10.

update: Bob and I went to see Tom 3-28-10 and he is recuperating nicely. He is following drs. orders (I know this is hard to believe but Sandy verified it) and is resting in between shorts walks to the shop.

Keep your prayers up for a speedy recovery and hurry back Tom and Sandy.....

Patsy and Mike Bullock will be doing bike nights with Doobie and are asking for volunteers to show up at the events to help with the distribution of trifolds. We are hoping this will help with recruiting new members.

John Vaudo has talked with Rocky Mount City Hall and Tarboro City Hall about making May Motorcycle Awareness Month in both towns. The proclamation for Rocky Mount is April 12th at 7:00pm. We will meet at Sams at 6:30 to ride together. If you can't make it to Sams please still go on to the Town Hall and meet us.

Tarboro's proclamation will be May 10th at 7:00pm. We will meet at Tarboro Walmart.

May 19th is Lobby Day. Everyone welcome to go to Meet and Greet. It is also Ride your Bike to Work Day.

TRB Gun Raffle:

If anyone needs tickets for the gun raffle please get up with Bob. We still have alot to sell. Remember, we will only accept cash for tickets. You can accept a check but it must be made out to you and cashed when you turn in your tickets to Tom.

We voted on a band for the gun raffle and we chose Pleasure2Burn. This is the band that we had at our christmas party.

We really need door prizes and auction prizes. You can drop them off to Wendy and we will pick them up. Make sure to get a business card or write down the name and address of person making the donation so that I may put their name out and send them a thank you letter after raffle.

The food will be hamburgers and hot dogs and they will be supplied by TRB.

Side dishes will be needed by volunteers. We will have a sign up sheet at the next meeting for food.

We will need volunteers to sit at tables for both events.

Lets get this done and have a great party.

See you at the next Leg meeting on April 21st.

February 17th, 2010

Let me start by thanking Jeff "Grasshopper" Reddick for making us a great meal for our meeting.

Now to update you on the Eastern district Swap Meet:

We have 5 confirmed vendors for the swap meet. Bob and I went around Rocky Mount and placed flyers at area businesses and stopped by a few including Rocky Mount Harley Davidson to invite them to join us this year.

If you have a vendor that may be interested have them contact me, everyone is welcome.

We still need to put flyers in other areas. If anyone can get them out around Goldsboro, Wilson, Greenville & Kinston that would be a huge help. The more exposure we can get the better our chances aof a successful event.

We will be marking the vendor spots on Thursday April 29th. And we are looking for volunteers to sit periodically at the TRB booth. Then everyone will have a chance to walk around and enjoy the event.

The Bike Game Committee is looking to do a Weeney Bite contest, A Straight Line Ride, A Bike Wash etc. They are looking to charge $5.00 for all events and $1.00 for extra chance rides. We will come up with times for these events once Bob can talk to Matt about the times for our Wet T'shirt contest.

Health News: I have been recently notified that Ron Jansen, past Leg Coordinator for TRB is in Wayne Memorial Hospital with a terminal illness. I ask that each TRB send thinking of you cards or maybe make a visit to see him and Kate through this difficult time. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Thier address is:

Ron & Kate Jansen

104 Ridge Runner Dr    Goldsboro, NC 27530

We are asking for help with local bike nights. We asked through Rocky Mount but nothing posted as of yet.

As soon as you see some information posted bring it to the next meeting so we can get it posted on our website.

Updates on our TRB Gun Raffle:

Tom, Sandy, Bob and I got all 900 tickets printed, stapled and ready for distribution to the members. $50.00 already turned in to Tom and he has given out 120 to date.

With the economy the way it is, I will not except any checks for the tickets this year. All tickets turned into Tom must be in cash. If you want to take a check from someone it must be made out to you and then you can turn in the cash.

I have been getting the paper ready for our events. I have the poker hand papers and registration papers for bike show done.

The bike show this year will be one winner of a BIG ASS TROPHY made by our own Stewart Vester.

Votes will be $1.00 that is plcaed in a jug placed in front of the bike of the voters choice. All proceeds made will go to Ron and Kate Jansen.

The bands to vote on at next meeting are: Please go their websites and listen to them and be ready to vote as you arrive to the meeting

Pleasure 2 Burn    www.myspace.com/p2brock

Menace2Sobriety  www.myspace.com/m2sband

Mister Jager  www.myspace.com/misterjagerband

Food will be hamburgers and hot dogs. We will ask that members volunteer to help with side dishes and desserts.

We still need to start on door prizes, silent auction. If you have something it can be dropped off at Wendy's for pick up.

The winner of the attendance drawing: John Frazier and Danny Holland won the 50/50 drawing.
