As the cold weather approaches and we try to find ways to keep warm and still ride our bikes on the pretty days left, let me recap Sept and October 2009.
Sept 26th, TRB member Phillip Brantley married Kristine. They had a lovely wedding despite the sprnkles that lead them to having an indoor wedding. The food and party was wonderful. Congratulations on your journey through life together.
Oct 10th, Bob Burke attended the State CBA party. The rain held off until the overnight hours and he stated they had a great time talking and partying. Maybe we can get a bigger crowd from TRB to attend next year.
October 14th,2009 my grandmother, Evelyn Blake passed away. She was 98 years old and had lived a full long life. She retired after 38 years as a school teacher with whom her students still came and visited her up until her passing. Nana was a prankster so anytime Bob could play a joke on her , he did. And in return she would play one on him. I was able to go home and visit her one last time during Labor Day week and enjoyed my time with her. She will be sadly missed by my family.
October 21st we held our Officer elections with the following results:
President: Bob Burke
Vice President Kenny Barnhill with 12 votes and Mike Bullock with 11 votes
2nd VP: No one was nominated for this position so if you are interested in this Officer position

October 24th Robby and Danny Holland held a Fundraiser Poker Run for their brother Ray who has cancer. Ray in recent weeks has also suffered a heart attack. They raised over $900.00 at this event to help Ray with his medical expenses. Thanks to everyone who attended.
October 25th, John Vaudo's dad, Al passed away after a brief illness. He went into the hospital Labor Day week for a bowel obstruction procedure and complication after complication arised. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1944 where he was a belly gunner for the B-24 Liberator, mechanic, draftsman and map maker until his discharge in 1947. Al was a graduate of the Harvard University Extension Program in 1973, and was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree. He served as the founding president of the Proctor School PTA, technical adviser for the Boston Museum of Science for Special Displays, treasurer of the Harvard Extension Alumni Association, was Harvard University foreign student host from 1973 to 1986, a Boston Ballet boys chaperone for several years, official guide for the MIT foreign visitors program, and a Somerville High School Band Booster volunteer.Following relocation to Tarboro he was active with the Historical Commission, the Golden K, Meals on Wheels and numerous other community activities over the years, especially with the Tar River Clowns, and well known as "Trashcan." Keep John and his family in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.
